Do you know how many awards and titles the all-new Ford F-150 has earned since its debut? Neither do we; we’ve lost count. We do know the pickup recently added to its list of accolades when it was named to the top spot among pickups for the 2015 AAA Green Car Guide.
The 2015 F-150 SuperCab Lariat model with EcoBoost was chosen as the greenest pickup on the market. It provides 26 highway miles to the gallon with help from the standard Auto Start-Stop system and 19 in the city for a total of 22 mpg combined.
The actual guide is 160 pages long, so we’ll spare you some time and give you a brief synopsis: Eighty-eight vehicles were evaluated and scored by the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Automotive Research Center (ARC). The scores were based on the vehicles’ performances in 13 categories including fuel economy, emissions, braking, handling, and ride comfort. Winners were chosen for each of six categories, one of which is for pickup trucks.
This is the fifth year AAA has published the Green Car Guide and we at Gurley Motors are honored and more than a little proud the 2015 F-150, with its efficient gasoline engine and advanced technology, was named to a list littered with alternative fuel-powered vehicles.
