Friday, August 21st was a big day for performance enthusiasts, when the first Shelby GT350R rolled off the assembly line at Ford’s Flat Rock factory in Michigan.
The GT350R promises to be not just the hottest version of the current Ford Mustang but also one of the most exciting sports cars on the American market, thanks to features like the world’s first mass-produced carbon-fiber wheels and a racing-inspired overhead display with shift lights, which we’re really looking forward to at Gurley Motor Company.
And let’s not forget the naturally-aspirated flat-crank 5.2-liter V8, the adaptive magnetorheological suspension, and unique aerodynamic bodywork. Better yet, it has a surprisingly reasonable starting price: at just $62,195, the Shelby GT350R is far more affordable than its main rival, the $75,000 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.
“This is a special day for all Mustang enthusiasts,” said executive chairman Bill Ford. “We have taken the GT350 formula to the next level of innovation, style, and performance. Today the legend continues.”
