Ford and the Tom Joyner Foundation are working together to take Ford’s Freedom Unsung program to a national level. This program honors outstanding achievements from ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the African American community.
“Ford has a legacy of honoring African American achievement,” said Pamela Alexander, director, community development, Ford Motor Company Fund, in a statement. “We are excited to launch this national contest and reward an unsung hero who uplifts our community.”
To be part of this contest, individuals are encouraged to nominate their favorite unsung hero in the African American community. They need to live in the United States and be at least 21 years old. Judges will narrow down the list of nominees to 10 finalists, which the public will then vote on.
Nominations are due by February 14th and can be submitted online. The winner will be announced by March 16th and the grand prize will be a trip for two aboard the 2016 Fantastic Voyage.
If you know of any unsung heroes here in our community, be sure to submit their name for this great program.
