Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means that Christmas is quickly approaching. Fortunately, there’s still time to get the whole family into the Christmas spirit. Check out these Christmas towns in New Mexico that take the holiday season to a whole new level!
It should come as no surprise to anyone that’s ever been there that Albuquerque takes the top spot on our list. Also known as the Duke City, Albuquerque is home to a River of Lights in the ABQ Biopark. The Old Town Plaza features decorations upon decorations, and visitors can take a ride on Christmas Eve in the luminaria trolley tour. To top it all off, Albuquerque is also home to a giant tumbleweed snowman!
In the past, airlines used to detour flights to provide passengers with an aerial view of Madrid, New Mexico’s Christmas lights. Today, the town maintains its reputation by celebrating Christmas with plenty of visits from Santa Claus and holiday lights throughout. Stores are also open late so everyone can get their Christmas shopping done.
The city of Mescalero is home to numerous inns and skiing resorts that celebrate the Christmas season in full force. The Inn of the Mountain Gods boasts beautiful decorations while Ski Apache offers a stunning view from above.
